About this test
A worn mouse switch can bounce, sending two clicks when you pressed once. This test timestamps every click and highlights pairs that arrive faster than any human can click, usually under 80 ms. Adjust the threshold if you are a fast clicker, and check left, right and middle buttons separately.
How to use this test
- Click steadily inside the area about once per second.
- Watch for red flags and the count of unwanted double-clicks.
- After 30 clicks you get a verdict. Repeat with other buttons.
Frequently asked questions
What gap counts as a faulty double-click?
Humans rarely click twice within 80 ms. Repeated gaps under 50 ms almost always mean switch bounce.
Can I fix a mouse that double-clicks?
Sometimes. Blowing out dust, raising the debounce time in the mouse software or replacing the switch can help. See our fix guide.
