About this test

The reaction time test measures the delay between the screen turning green and your click or key press. It uses the browser's high-resolution event timestamps, so the result includes your own reaction plus a small amount of mouse, display and system latency. Clicking before the colour changes counts as too early and the round restarts.

How to use this test

  1. Click the box to begin and wait while it is red.
  2. As soon as it turns green, click or press Space.
  3. Repeat five times. Your average and fastest time appear at the end.

Frequently asked questions

What is a normal reaction time?

Most people average 200–280 ms on a test like this. Below 200 ms is excellent; trained gamers often reach 150–180 ms.

Why is my score slower on this computer?

Monitor refresh rate, wireless mice and display processing add delay. A 144 Hz screen and wired mouse can improve results by 10–30 ms.

Can I improve my reaction time?

Sleep, warm-up and practice help a little. Hardware with low input lag removes avoidable delay.
