About this test

The typing test shows a stream of common words in your language. Type each word and press Space to move on. Correct words count towards your speed; mistakes lower your accuracy. WPM uses the standard definition of five characters per word, so results are comparable with other typing tests.

  2. Click the box and start typing. The timer starts on your first key.

  4. Read your WPM, accuracy and best score when time runs out.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good typing speed?

The average adult types about 35–40 WPM. 50–70 WPM is fast for office work, and above 80 WPM is considered very fast.

How is WPM calculated?

Correctly typed characters, including spaces, are divided by five and then by the minutes elapsed. Wrong words are not counted.

Does my keyboard affect my score?

A little. Key travel, layout and lag matter, but practice matters far more. Use the keyboard test if some keys do not register.
